Belgian company Sonaca bought a 20,000 sqm plot in Turda, north-western Romania, to build factory that will produce parts for the Airbus aircraft wings.

Sonaca Aerospace Transilvania, the group’s subsidiary in Romania, which was set up this year, bought the piece of land from the Czech logistics park developer CTP Invest. It will first build an 8,000 sqm plant, which will be later expanded to 12,000 sqm, reports local Profit.ro. The company has requested state aid for this project.

The company’s representatives confirmed the information but didn’t want to go into details until the state aid was approved.

Sonaco is planning EUR 84 million investments by 2019, EUR 56 million of which will be allocated for its factory in Gosselies, Belgium. The investment in the plant in Romania could thus amount to over EUR 20 million.
