Swiss group opens sensors factory in Romania’s Sibiu

Swiss group Polycontact opened a new sensors factory in Ocna Sibiului, Sibiu county.

In the first stage, the factory will make products developed by the parent company Polycontact AG. Later, its local subsidiary Polycontact Hermannstadt will operate independently in the local market, reports local Economica.net.

Polycontact AG is a hi-tech provider in the auto industry. It develops switches and sensors for large German car manufacturers such as Daimler, Audi, VW, Porsche, and BMW. The company has developed sensors to detect the seat position, and rotation angle sensors.

Polycontact has recently relocated a part of its sensor production from China. It will also relocate a part of its production from Turkey.

In Romania, Polycontact Hermannstadt plans to have 300 employees and a turnover of EUR 10 million by 2019.
