French car parts producer Faurecia inaugurated on September 20 a new factory in Ramnicu Valcea, following a EUR 12 million investment.
Over 700 people will work in the new plant, said Hagen Wiesner, Executive Vice President, Faurecia Automotive Seating. The company will hire another 600 people by the end of next year.
The plant, which covers some 12,000 sqm, aims to produce 280,000 trim covers by the end of this year. The covers are used by international car producers such as Renault, Peugeot, and Volkswagen.
Faurecia is active in three fields, namely automotive seating, interior systems, and emission control technologies. Last year, the group had total sales of EUR 20.7 billion and 103,000 employees in 34 countries.
In Romania, The company also has factories in Talmaciu, where it produces car seats, Craiova, where the company manufactures emissions control technologies, and Pitesti, where Faurecia produces interior systems.
Over 3,000 employees work in the group’s factories in Romania. Last year they generated sales of EUR 203 million. In the first half of this year the sales amounted to EUR 119 million.
